How to use Tailwind to explode your Pinterest account strategy.<\/b><\/p>\n

Before we can use Tailwind to it\u2019s fullest, we need to lay out a solid Pinterest strategy. This is the stuff that has been shared time and again. It still holds true.<\/span><\/p>\n

#1 Pin high-quality content<\/span><\/p>\n

#2 Pin on a regular basis<\/span><\/p>\n

#3 Create boards with amazing keyword-rich descriptions<\/span><\/p>\n

#4 Share your Pinterest account on other social medias<\/span><\/p>\n

#5 Connect with other Pinterest users<\/span><\/p>\n

#6 Follow and engage other users<\/span><\/p>\n

#7 Create Pin-worthy content<\/span><\/p>\n

#8 Enable rich pins<\/span><\/p>\n

Understanding Pinterest Algorithms<\/h3>\n

Pinterest is a massive business that is building a visual search engine to rival Google. My prediction is that within the next 18-24 months, Pinterest will take a decent chunk out of Google’s visual search and by proxy\u2014their revenue.\u00a0<\/span>With <\/span>100 million users<\/i><\/b>, Pinterest isn\u2019t going anywhere anytime soon.<\/span><\/p>\n

Think about it this way: Pinterest (as a company) <\/span>wants its users to spend more time on Pinterest<\/b>: searching, pinning, and sharing.\u00a0<\/span>The more time they spend on Pinterest, the more money Pinterest makes through advertising and brand awareness.\u00a0<\/span>Their goal is to to <\/span>make the best experience for the user<\/b>. That means if you also think \u201cHow will the user have the best experience?\u201d you\u2019ll be rewarded.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pinterest uses their Smart Feed<\/a><\/b>\u00a0algorithms<\/b><\/a>\u00a0to help rank pins and provide you with the best experience possible.<\/b><\/p>\n

There are three main things Pinterest looks at that we can work on improving. They include\u00a0your account as a whole, the individual boards, and the pin\u2019s themselves.\u00a0<\/span>Using the Smart Feed, Pinterest views your account and <\/span>determines how to show your content<\/b>. Depending on these factors, Pinterest will show your content to more (or fewer) people.\u00a0<\/span>Pinterest also ranks each pin individually. Great or \u201cPinworthy\u201d content is promoted while crappy content is ignored at best, punished at worst.<\/span><\/p>\n

How to Increase Your Virality on Pinterest<\/b><\/h2>\n

To start, do some spring cleaning on each of your pins, your boards, and your profile.\u00a0See if you can move your boards around, update the cover photos, or improve on your descriptions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Second, sign up for <\/a><\/span>Tailwind<\/b><\/a>, and use their analytics tools. Tailwind should be a key component on building your Pinterest account.<\/span><\/p>\n

After you have an account, click on <\/span>\u201cProfile Performance<\/a>\u201d<\/i><\/b> under the <\/span>\u201cTrack Your Brand\u201d <\/i><\/b>page section.\u00a0<\/span>There are two main metrics to be looking at, virility score and engagement score. They look like this:<\/span><\/p>\n

Remember how I said Pinterest looks at your account as a whole? Well these two numbers are a great representation of your overall Pinterest account’s health. You will want to boost these two numbers as high as possible. <\/span><\/p>\n

Remember how I said Pinterest looks at a board’s performance? Well Tailwind is awesome and they rank each board’s performance for you.<\/span><\/p>\n

Under the <\/span>\u201cBoard Insights<\/a>\u201d<\/i><\/b> section, you can see what boards have the highest level of engagement and virality. These are the boards that are most likely to generate you loads of traffic. Your virality score is based on how many repins per pin<\/span>\u00a0are on that board, calculated by the boards (total repins)\u00a0\u00f7 (total pins).<\/span><\/p>\n

If a single board had hundreds of thousands of repins and fewer pins, the board is probably a highly sought after one (hint-hint wink-wink, Pinterest thinks this way too).<\/span><\/p>\n

A great way to boost a boards ranking is to promote the high performing pins on that board so it receives even more traction.<\/span><\/p>\n

Next, go to the <\/span>\u201cPin Inspector<\/a>\u201d<\/i><\/b> tab under <\/span>\u201cOptimize Content\u201d.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

This awesome section will show you the pins that are performing the best.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the Pin Inspector report, Tailwind can organize your pins based on pins with the most engagement – either by Repins, likes or comments. These are your top pins.<\/span><\/p>\n
