Fitness influencers, for example, are showing less-than-flattering pics of themselves to help with expectations and the overall mental health of Instagrammers, this grows their brand trust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>People appreciate vulnerability because it shows that instead of just being a sales machine churning out paid sponsorships, there\u2019s a human behind that brand with a real mission.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-successfully-shifting-focus-from-snapchat-with-instagram-stories\"><strong>Successfully Shifting Focus from Snapchat with Instagram Stories<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Once Instagram Stories were launched, people started to shift away from Snapchat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because now &#8211; Instagram has the market cornered as not only the place where you go to explore and find inspiration but its the place where you can also see the more unfiltered day-to-day life of both your friends <em>and <\/em>the brands that you like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(<a href=\"https:\/\/tailwindapp.com\/blog\/required-instagram-video-sizes-and-dimensions\">Go here to see the general requirements on producing all types of Instagram video.<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>But even if you\u2019re still a die-hard Snapchat fan, this is great news \u2013 competition between social media giants like Instagram and Snapchat is exactly how innovation is born. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Snapchat, for example, has plans to compete with Instagram Stories by making filters for not just people, but pets and monuments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-becoming-big-competition-for-youtube-with-igtv\"><strong>Becoming Big Competition for Youtube with IGTV<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When IGTV launched in 2018, Youtube took some serious notice. They had the upper hand on all kinds of long-form video, but then IGTV solved quite a few problems for Instagrammers who wanted to go <a href=\"https:\/\/tailwindapp.com\/blog\/igtv-for-marketers\">more in-depth with their audience<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many Instagrammers felt held back by the 60 second cut off of regular video feed posts, and breaking up their story into 10-second clips to fit the Stories feature was just not ideal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But then came along IGTV, and it all changed. <strong>There was no longer a need to refer away our audience &#8211; NOPE, now viewers could get more <\/strong><strong>explanation, more entertainment, more instruction, more ideas, and more inspiration<\/strong><strong> right there on Instagram.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-specific-instagram-changes-in-2019\"><strong>Specific Instagram Changes in 2019:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Changes bigger than the release of Benny Drama&#8217;s Kim Kardashian law school parody have happened over on Instagram in 2019. (My personal favorite Instagram changes this year are all of the extra gifs and animations that we could add over Stories.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-biggest-instagram-trend-in-2019-was-10yearchallenge-nbsp\"><strong>The biggest Instagram trend in 2019 was #10yearchallenge:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/explore\/tags\/10yearchallenge\"> <em>ONE<\/em> hashtag actually generated over <em>4 MILLION POSTS<\/em><\/a><em>.<\/em> And we\u2019re still counting, as everyone from your reclusive aunt to your neighbor\u2019s cat is posting those side-by-side pics showing how they\u2019ve changed over these past ten years.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/twprod.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/wF_8_N_sC9TmvZWjXlNs4KzMjKWX0Qiq7tN8jk2YylI6iRae1MGNOvktjgkdI1dLOEFQWphVt-PXROc_uBlmdKNXgd5sBsW78cUCa5zDZyUnFrTYKFezBy467wzDOSpF5vwWQ-Q.jpeg\" alt=\"\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-viral-jennifer-anniston-moment-showed-us-just-how-quickly-an-instagram-account-can-grow\"><strong>A viral Jennifer Anniston moment showed us just how quickly an Instagram account can grow:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When Jennifer Anniston finally gave in to the powers that be and joined Instagram on October 18, 2019, she set a Guinness World Record. And this was #goals, because her Instagram became the fastest-growing account to date, as she reached a cool 1 million followers in just over five hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She\u2019s got decades of hard work under her belt, and a cute caption doesn\u2019t hurt, but <strong>it\u2019s viral moments like these that show us just how powerful social media platforms like Instagram really can be.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<p><iframe data-src=\"https:\/\/giphy.com\/embed\/cn3rzFN2FvhKaNwTTt\" width=\"480\" height=\"272\" frameBorder=\"0\" class=\"giphy-embed lazyload\" allowFullScreen src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" data-load-mode=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/giphy.com\/gifs\/eonline-2019-e-online-peoples-choice-awards-cn3rzFN2FvhKaNwTTt\">via GIPHY<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-hiding-likes-nbsp\"><strong>Hiding Likes:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Though many were disappointed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/tailwindapp.com\/blog\/hidden-likes-instagram\">move to hide likes<\/a>, I feel like Instagram\u2019s efforts to support better mental health while boosting real engagement is a move in the right direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This allows Instagrammers and marketers like you &amp; I to focus on engaging with others in more meaningful ways and really building out our communities.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Getting rid of what doesn\u2019t work to replace it with something better is going to help build a better business, and it\u2019s all in the name of decluttering. Another way to declutter \u2013 automatically <a href=\"https:\/\/tailwindapp.com\/blog\/how-to-hide-hashtags-on-instagram\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hide those necessary hashtags in the first comment<\/a> inside of Tailwind\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tailwindapp.com\/instagram-scheduling-and-publishing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Instagram scheduler<\/a> with the Hashtags in First Comment feature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-creating-augmented-reality-ar-filters-nbsp\"><strong>Creating Augmented Reality (AR) Filters:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018AR\u2019 just means \u201cAugmented Reality\u2019, and having your own filter for Instagram Stories isn\u2019t just for the Kylie Jenners of the world anymore. This past summer, Instagram made it possible for anyone and everyone to make their very own filter. (Ahh!
