Steer clear of this, unless you want to re-brand again in a few years or even months! <\/em>&#8220;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Focusing on the strategy behind your brand will help you do this. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through answering some strategy focused questions, you can <strong>be intentional&nbsp;about creating a personal brand that&#8217;s easily recognizable.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So before diving into any visual elements, answer the following questions.&nbsp;These questions will help you remain focused on <strong>the story and heart behind what you do, <\/strong>and <strong>identify<\/strong> <strong>who you&#8217;re speaking to<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After all, you can&#8217;t effectively speak to your audience if you don&#8217;t know who they are!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-questions-to-ask-yourself-before-self-branding\">Questions to Ask Yourself Before Self-Branding:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What is your business purpose?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What makes your business unique?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Why do your clients trust you?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Who are your competitors?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What are they doing well?&nbsp;What are they NOT doing well?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How are you different from your competitors?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Describe your ideal client (get specific here. Think age, income, location, decision making factors, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What is your client\/target audience\u2019s most basic problem that you have the solution for?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that you know who you&#8217;re speaking to, you can begin putting together visuals that speak directly to them.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bonus Tip: <strong>Remove your feelings from the process<\/strong>. To help clarify them, <strong>start with defining your business vision<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What is your reason behind creating this business and what do you hope to bring to the world with it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then dig into your ideal client. <strong>Who is your ideal client? What makes them ideal? And the big question, how do they describe the problem you solve?<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Understanding how your client speaks is <strong>key to writing content that makes them say \u201cyes, that\u2019s exactly it!<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>One of my favorite brand strategy questions to ask is: <strong>&nbsp;If your brand was at a party, how would it be remembered?<\/strong> &nbsp;This is the culmination of how your voice and visuals come together. Is your brand, happy, sophisticated, serious? <strong>What do you want your ideal clients to feel anytime they interact with you brand?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The last thing about<strong> brand strategy is that it can change and grow over time<\/strong> as your business does, so <strong>check back in on it every year or so<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>I know nailing down your brand strategy can be daunting but I promise it will be worth it in the end!&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-css-opacity has-vivid-cyan-blue-background-color has-background is-style-dots\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<em>Kristen Good is a designer and creative strategist helping heart-centered entrepreneurs take their businesses to the next level with kick-ass branding and strategy! However, I think <strong>there\u2019s a way to strategically add personality that aligns with your brand <\/strong>and provides value to your audience.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A brand is how people think, feel and act in relation to your business<\/strong>. How you get someone to think a certain way, act a certain way and feel a certain way is through the various touchpoints and experiences someone has with your brand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;<em>When you\u2019re deciding how much of yourself to bring into your brand, <strong>think about how you want someone to experience your business<\/strong>. <strong>What sort of feelings and thoughts do you want that person to have when they see you <\/strong>on Instagram, visit your website or come across a piece of content on Pinterest?<\/em>&#8220;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-create-touchpoints-on-every-channel\">Create Touchpoints On Every Channel<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>By clearly articulating how you want someone to think and feel at each brand touchpoint, you end up creating a guideline<\/strong> for the type of personal details that you should include in your content marketing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, if you\u2019re going back and forth on whether or not to share a personal story, think about it from the perspective of your audience. <strong>Does this story reinforce the <a href=\"https:\/\/tailwindapp.com\/blog\/instagram-vs-reality-values-online\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"brand perception (opens in a new tab)\">brand perception<\/a> that I want my reader, viewer, or listener to have or does it detract from it?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The other consideration to have when deciding if you should share a personal story is whether or not it serves your ideal client.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Part of building a personal brand well is consistently adding value to your community.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, this doesn\u2019t mean you have to only share sunshine and rainbows &#8211; <strong>getting vulnerable and sharing struggles is a great way to add value and build a personal connection<\/strong>. Check up on whether your <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"color palette (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/tailwindapp.com\/blog\/best-instagram-color-themes-zodiac\/\" target=\"_blank\">Instagram color theme<\/a>, visual assets, and wording also match up! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-does-your-instagram-tell-a-story-and-does-it-make-sense\">Does your Instagram tell a story &#8211; and does it make sense?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You have to think about Instagram as an additive to your brand, not your whole brand. If you are posting things that don\u2019t make sense and or add value to the brand then it doesn\u2019t have anything to do with it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>Social media platforms work to <strong>build a lifestyle around a brand or business<\/strong>.  Sometimes people get so determined to sell a product <strong>they forget that they are selling a lifestyle<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-do-blind-tests\">Do blind tests!<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Take a screenshot of your feed, take out the name and bio and hand it to unbiased people. Have them tell you what they see and\/ or have them make educated guesses as to what the brand stands for and does. If they say something totally off then maybe it\u2019s time to go back to the drawing board!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-numbers-never-lie\">Numbers never lie  <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Look at your posts that have done the best, and try to figure out what your followers loved about them and more importantly replicate it as best as you can without repeating.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-take-a-hard-look-at-your-bio\">Take a hard look at your bio<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Ask yourself these questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>Does the <strong>name of the business match the handle<\/strong>? Do you have a <strong>call to action <\/strong>on the page? What do your<strong> followers know about the brand based on the handle<\/strong>? If you remove<strong> <\/strong>your photos and posts completely, would <strong>your <a aria-label=\"Instagram bio (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/tailwindapp.com\/blog\/instagram-bio-ideas-how-to-write-bio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Instagram bio<\/a> still inform your followers what your brand messaging is<\/strong>? <\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-consistency-is-key\">Consistency is key!<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>It doesn\u2019t matter if you post every day or once a week, but you have to maintain consistency and flow so your followers remember you.
