font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;\">Also, pay attention to the&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;\">contrast<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;\">. <strong>Contrast is the difference between the lights and darks in your photo. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; Let\u2019s talk about&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;\">white balance, temperature, and tint.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;\">White balance<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;\">&nbsp;adjusts the overall accuracy of light in your photo, meaning that what\u2019s white to your eyes comes out as white in the picture. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;\">Have you ever taken a photo that ends up looking quite blue (cool) or orange (warm) overall? For example, if you take a photo in the shade, it\u2019ll come out looking <em>cooler&nbsp;<\/em>than in the sunlight, which will be very <em>warm.&nbsp;<\/em>Our eyes regulate these differences for us so we don&#8217;t notice, but the camera picks it up<\/span> and can skew colors and skin tones!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;\">Light also has a&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;\">tint<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;\">. Rather than being on the blue-orange spectrum, tint is on the green-magenta spectrum. Tint can sometimes swing too far in either direction, mostly if you\u2019re shooting indoors or using artificial light.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-four-work-with-brightness-highlights-and-shadows\"><strong>Step Four: Work With Brightness, Highlights, and Shadows<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a slight difference between exposure and brightness. <strong>Exposure places slightly more emphasis on brightening the areas of your photo that are already lighter and the brightness feature focuses more on your image as a whole.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to adjust <em>only<\/em> the lights or darks of your photo, you&#8217;ll work with the <strong>highlights<\/strong> and <strong>shadows<\/strong> tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-pin-nopin=\"true\" data-src=\"https:\/\/twprod.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/asg_q37lVVCUSKr3LWiH2Fart_EAzyBJ5ACrDVxOSf2F1602584290940-ScreenShot2020-10-13at11.04.08PM.png\" alt=\"Manipulating highlights and shadows picture editing\" class=\"wp-image-21561 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s as simple as it sounds: working with highlights will increase or decrease the bright areas of your picture, and shadows will do the same with the darks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-five-toggle-saturation-and-the-vibrancy-of-your-colors\"><strong>Step Five: Toggle Saturation and the Vibrancy of Your Colors<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;\"><strong>Saturation<\/strong> refers to how vivid all the colors in your photo are. In your photo editing program, locate where it breaks down each individual color into a separate scale. This is commonly labeled HSL, and it&#8217;s where you can find the&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;\">hue, saturation,&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;\">and&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;\">luminance<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;\">&nbsp;tools.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;\">Let\u2019s say you want to increase the blue in your photo.
