Sounds great, but what exactly does that mean? Since that time, Pinterest has not been shy about presenting themselves as a&nbsp;<em>search and discovery&nbsp;<\/em>tool rather than a social media platform. Well, last night they released a brand new way to search the Internet: Guided Search. Sounds great, but what&nbsp;<em>exactly<\/em> does Guided Search mean? Keep reading to learn more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-1-what-is-guided-search\">1. What <em>is<\/em> Guided Search?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Pinterest, Guided Search is &#8220;made for exploring, whether you know exactly what you want, or you\u2019re just starting to look around&#8221;. They want Guided Search to be an entirely new way to search the Internet, based on the excitement of image exploration. Users will now be able to search though&nbsp;Pinterest&#8217;s 750 million boards and 30 billion pins to find <em>exactly<\/em> what they didn&#8217;t know they were looking for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2-how-does-it-work\">2. How does it work?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Right now Guided Search is only offered on phone and tablet apps. When I tried it out this morning, I was met with this screen on search:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/twprod.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/IMG_8963.png\" alt=\"So, What is Pinterest's Guided Search?\" class=\"wp-image-5202 lazyload\" title=\"So, What is Pinterest's Guided Search?\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because I&#8217;m in dire need of a new summer cut, I chose &#8220;Hair Styles&#8221;. What does it mean for users?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a potential game changer for search as we know it. While previous search engines allowed users to find something they were looking for, Pinterest&#8217;s new guided search lets users explore things they didn&#8217;t even know they were looking for. Pinterest believes that search should be &#8220;lot less typing&#8230; and a lot more browsing&#8221;&nbsp;through images. The simple idea that people are more interested in browsing images rather than text is what made them the platform they are today. Making the leap to visual discovery is a very logical &#8211; and potentially very lucrative &#8211; one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-4-what-does-it-mean-for-marketers\">4. What does it mean for marketers?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/businessblog.pinterest.com\/post\/83773304548\/guided-search-a-new-way-to-find-what-youre-looking\">The Pinterest blog<\/a> specifically says: &#8220;We\u2019re not changing the way we rank search results, so you don\u2019t need to make any changes to Pins from your business. As always, good Pin descriptions are the best way to help Pinners find your content&#8221;. You must take that advice to heart &#8211;&nbsp;<strong>always have good pin descriptions.<\/strong> This release just emphasizes the need for good <a href=\"https:\/\/tailwindapp.com\/blog\/pinterest-seo\">Pinterest SEO<\/a>.
