Your Pinterest profile picture is an important part of your Pinterest presence. It appears wherever you go on the site. Your Account page, pins, repins and comments all carry your image. It represents YOU to the Pinterest universe. Many users reuse their facebook or twitter photo, but Pinterest is different from facebook and twitter. So, give some thought to choosing the right Pinterest profile picture.

Don’t overbrand. It may be tempting to use your company logo as your Pinterest profile picture. That only works well if you are a large, known brand. If you don’t always use your logo that will make your product for a more pin-worthy visual.

Choose someone to be the “face” of your Pinterest page. It could be you, a partner, employee, even a client. Anyone who visually represents your brand is fair game. Only use a logo if you feel you must.

Emotion matters. Your Pinterest profile picture should exude an emotion you want customers to associate with your brand. A fashion house may use a model who screams exclusivity. At Tailwind, we want our customers to feel empowered- even superhuman. So, the Tailwind Pinterest profile features a superhero cartoon created by our co-founder, Alex.

Size matters. Your Pinterest profile picture dimensions are 160×160 pixels. Your image should be square and at least that size. If not, your profile picture may be distorted or blurry. Large images may fail to upload, so resize large pictures before you upload them. Rectangular images are centered, resized, and cropped automatically so the resulting profile picture might not be ideal.
