When it comes to talking about Pinterest, I can go on and on. I recently had a nice long chat with professional photographer, Andrew Hellmich about getting started on Pinterest and shared the first half of our conversation in podcast episode 009. This episode is the last half of our conversation and we cover lots more information about Pinterest.
Some of the topics covered in this episode include:
- Pinterest business terms of service – https://business.pinterest.com/tos/
- How to space out your pining
- Pin it button for websites from Pinterest- https://business.pinterest.com/pin-it-button/
- WordPress pin it button plugin- https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/pinterest-pin-it-button/
- Pin it button for bookmarks bar- https://about.pinterest.com/goodies/
- Pinterest Analytics
- Pinning your Instagram images
Wow, 10 episodes of podcast so already! It feels like it just launched yesterday. Are there any particular kinds of guests you’d like to hear from in future episodes?
To connect with Andrew or to listen to his Photobiz Xposed podcast, you can find him at photobizx.com
During our chat, Andrew asked about pinning Instagram images to Pinterest. The last time I pinned from Instagram was before the new look came along and I wasn’t 100% sure it would still work.
Instagram and Pinterest
Around the same time I had my conversation with Andrew, I received a question from Muskie on my previous post about pinning Instagram photos. When I tried my old method, it failed but I found a new way.
Here’s a short video showing the new method I found to pin directly from Instagram. (This seems to work best in Google Chrome.)

hi there, do you know if it is possible to post photos from Pinterest TO instagram? (i.e. the other way around)
i look forward to your reply
best wishes
Gabrielle
Gabrielle,
I don’t think it’s possible in this way. The only possible way I could see doing it is taking a screenshot of your phone the uploading that image to Instagram. But, it wouldn’t tie them together like this does.
Thanks for your question.
Not working for me (in Chrome, too) – either I am having a user error issue or, more likely I would guess, Mark Z. closed another loophole allowing Instagram images to migrate to other social platforms…is it still working for you?
Not working for me either 🙁 Right-clicking on the image does not give those options.
Give ShotPin a try. It’s great for Instagram, Google+ and Facebook. http://shotpin.com/
Here is what I did:
1. Right-click and then select “inspect element”
2. Select the image link in the box that appears at the bottom of the page
3. Click the link below the image which opens it in a new tab
4. Pin it! 😉
Hi Michaela. Does this link you back to your Instagram account or just to the image?
It just links to the image if you do it that way. I think if you pin from the inspect element it links to your Instagram. What I did for the ones that I pinned from the new tab was change the link associated with the image in my Pinterest board. Does that make sense? If not, email me and I’ll send screenshots.
Thanks Cynthia for sharing this tool http://shotpin.com/ it really helps 🙂
Great Kleyr! Thanks for stopping by 🙂
Thanks for this information. Works in Firefox if after you select the specific image, you right click and select “View Background Image”. The resulting screen will allow you to use the Pin button.
Thanks Scott 🙂
That works for me…thanks Scott!
Thanks for this post! I am finding that using FollowGram is easier (as a Firefox user).
Hi Jen, thanks for stopping by! I’ll have to check out FollowGram 🙂
Hello, just thought I’d let Mac owners now that if you double click the image and select “View Background Image,” it will bring up a Pinnable pic! This works great for my car dealership!!
Hi, I use Google Chrome and this didn’t work for me. When clicked the ‘Pin It’ button it only showed me one of my Instrgram photos available to pin – not the one I am interested in sharing on Pinterest.
Actually, it’s only allowing me to select my Instragram profile picture to pin.
Never mind, ShotPin worked!
I’ve tried this, and it no longer works in Chrome. I’ve tried Shotpin but it’s no longer available. Is Instagram determined to block integration with Pinterest or something? If so, why?
Hi Charlie,
Thanks for stopping by. It is a shame that the shortcuts have stopped working. Right now the only solution seems to be opening up the image in a window, copying the link and using the Pinterest + option to add it.
Great information. Can you write the link to the Analytics you talked about in the show please.
Hi Warner,
You can access analytics straight form Pinterest if you have a business account from the drop down menu on the top right side on the Pinterest desktop version. The third party tool I recommend is Tailwind (formerly PinLeague)
Great trick! Thanks so much for sharing 🙂
Thanks this was so helpful!
Thankyou so much. I often wondered if it was possible and glad I found your post, I shared it with my follower’s on Twitter.
Karen
Thanks so much for this video! Exactly what I was looking for.
Thank you so much for a very quick & easy tutorial! You’ve saved me a ton of frustration! Rock on!
Is there away to pin from your Instagram to pin interest using Android phone?
